My Opinion About PSJ18:
Is there really anything more provocative than a sexy Japanese girl, with her tight little body, small tits, and something in her eyes that just lets you know that despite appearances, you're not safe taking her home to meet the family? I thought so too, and as soon as I arrived to PSJ18, I knew that taking these chicks home would definitely not be safe. Talk about hot!
I'm often disappointed when I enter a so-called Japanese or Asian site, because I really am a fan of the niche, and perhaps that makes me hold them to a higher standard. My first impression of these Japanese Stars of Porn, however couldn't be more positive. PSJ claims to be one of the top publishing companies working directly out of Tokyo with over 10 Japanese Studios, so right off the bat I expect to find not only gorgeous Asians, but a hell of a lot of genuine content and highly professional production values.
The site's design reflects just that, merging the sweet look of a teen site with the high organisation of a professional one. There is no members' area per se, since the entire site can be browsed freely by non-members, but the home page features a cover girl, a link enticing us to the AV Idol section, and a thumbnailed listing of the 4 latest additions. Using the simple left-page menu, all the movie content can be browsed by date, by porn star, or by Tags, which can include keywords like toys, anal or lesbian, but also soaps & suds, ninja or buses & trains. Favourite Picks, Latest Releases, Uncensored, or the Full List are other ways through which content can be reached, as well as a Search engine. There are no bonuses, but if the amount and quality of movies and photos is what I hope it to be, who cares?
So let's get to it. There are currently 215 films, 22 of which are uncensored and the rest with the pixelisation that is usual in Japanese porn, and each of them a full DVD with around 120 minutes. If that's not enough to keep you happy, maybe the 10 new titles released each week - 5 per update, twice weekly - will. Disappointment number one: there is a 10GB daily limit for downloads. That wouldn't be too bad, but if the movie you want happens to be available only in a full-length 1GB file and if, when you start the download as I did, it says it will take approximately 4-fucking-hours to complete even with broadband, then you're screwed, and not in the way you'd be hoping to be. Even if you cancel the download immediately and go look for something faster, the entire 1GB will be taken off your quota. Luckily, the most recent movies are split in up to 10 chapters with sizes up to 120MB. It's impossible to know beforehand exactly how big each file is or to stream it, because they're all shielded inside a zip file, but you can expect 640x480 DivX-encoded .avi movies with bit-rates between 1100 and 1600Kbps.
When it comes to themes, it's all a bit too mainstream porn for my personal taste, with an emphasis on the most famous titles from the most famous porn stars, with a lot of cute schoolgirls, sexy nurses, glamorous lesbians and eager amateurs, and not enough Shibari or Kinbaku, but that's just me.
Disappointment number two: the promised exclusive photos and behind-the-scenes videos. They're promising Photo Galleries to come soon, along with Model Wallpapers, but for now, there's nothing. Short Clips to keep us entertained while waiting for downloads are also mentioned, but again, nowhere to be seen.
Final Verdict:
PSJ18 has one of the best selections of Japanese movies around, that's for sure. They're are all commercially-released DVDs, so forget about exclusivity, but I prefer having high-quality genuine Japanese films to exclusive crap shot in an American basement any day of the week. I was disappointed that there was so little information about the Porn Stars of Japan themselves - only the covergirl had a link to an official blog, which was in Japanese - but the quality of the movies is such that you can almost taste their skin.
